An Extra Hot, Extra Wet, Extra Shot Sonnet

Early impatience to your inevitable lateness

Love’s fresh aroma makes my heart beat

Awaiting half Irish steampunk entrance

Mixed black and bitter – dusted vanilla sweet

Crowd well scanned for anyone we know

Cappuccino obediently essenced to your liking

Before sitting with me in comfort, and on show

We box witty as March hares –  half chastising

Two serpents born out of a cruel twist of silver

Amongst stranger spectators, you take my palm to unfold

Eyes closed, you kiss me, put ring on my finger

From that moment – I’m yours to have and to hold

Startled by your sincerity, milky froth all dregged up

Extra hot, extra wet, extra shot – now in my coffee cup.
